This building’s geometry is derived from integrating the floor plan into its wedge shaped site. The project is also sited to complement and enhance an adjacent municipal library building. Faceted planes of masonry and curving glass curtain walls create a lively design imagery appropriate to the facility’s recreational uses.
The initial phase of construction combines meeting, activity and recreation functions and includes: meeting/performance spaces with food service capacity, natatorium, double gymnasium, racquetball, exercise, and crafts spaces. The success of the initial project drove plans for an expansion to add additional exercise and meeting facilities.
