Overview
This new east side fire station is situated on the same site as the existing 1960’s vintage station it replaces. The Owner’s program required not only keeping the existing station in operation during construction, but also incorporating the older building into the new facility. The resulting 15,500 s.f. building is composed of an all-new fire facility with new apparatus bays, offices, dormitories, gymnasium, and support facilities. The new work adjoins the existing building while leaving it fully operational. Upon completion of the new work, a comprehensive interior/exterior remodeling provides apparatus bay and dormitories for future EMS staff. The site planning resolves complex issues related to both interim and final traffic flow.
