Overview
Port San Antonio was founded in 1996 and manages the real estate assets of the former Kelly Air Force Base. The development of a new corporate headquarters was viewed by the Client as an opportunity to both create a positive benchmark for future development of its property and to promote the corporate vision of a high performance complex that is a high quality place to work.
The headquarters is located within a 5-building office/warehouse complex recently constructed by the Port. Functionally, the 30,000 s.f. floor plan is divided into 3 zones: a public sector housing reception, meeting rooms, and lounges; a central production sector with open and enclosed work spaces; and a support sector housing library, information technology, exercise space, and storage. The plan is arranged to facilitate work flow, to provide opportunities for both privacy and interaction, and to maximize natural light.
The design incorporates ‘green’ initiatives to create an environmentally responsible and healthy work place, including: energy efficiency and renewable energy use, water efficiency, air quality management, resource conservation, waste management, and adaptability in design.
